Well, I’m afraid the fruit and veg has not grown all that well this year. I think it was a combination of the weather being too cold or too hot and me not giving the plants enough love and attention, but the plants didn’t produce much fruit. We probably had about thirty baby tomatoes and six big ones, which isn’t a lot from four large plants. I also tried growing Rocket again, which grew, but then I didn’t pick any and it went to seed – totally my own fault for not looking after it properly. The peppers I grew from the kit only grew to about 20 cm and didn’t produce any fruit. Alas. The chives are still going strong and we did have about 5 beans, which were very nice, but just not very plentiful. The one thing that did better this year than last was the strawberries. They’re beginning to take over the garden, and produced lots of fruit. Yum.
Next year I must plan things properly and then make sure I look after the plants much better than I did this year. I don’t really know why I didn’t tend them very well this year, maybe it was just laziness, or carelessness, or both. Poor plants.
Now it’s time to take the plants out and think about planting bulbs for next spring, so I will try and do that soon.
I have a very short attention span when it comes to plants. It lasts for the time I am in the garden centre deciding which ones to buy and paying for them at the till. If I was a plant I wouldn’t choose me as an owner
The good thing about the rocket going to seed is you will probably have volunteers.
