Wandering in the library

September 12, 2011

It’s that time of year again.  The library is getting fuller and the librarians are getting busier (although the summer holidays don’t really seem to exist anymore). It was positively noisy in the foyer of the Shiny New Learning Centre today. I spent a lot of time wandering around the second floor, looking for students to help. I didn’t find very many – even though there were lots of people in the foyer they were mainly there for things other than the library – so my wanderings were rather dull, for the most part. I was also worried that the people trying to work on the second floor would think I was mad and annoying for wandering around so much while they were attempting to write essays, etc. I think I must have walked round there about thirty times today! Still, I did manage to help and few people, mainly with the exciting compact shelving and the self-issue machines. Soon there will be plenty of people to help, and I expect then we’ll wish it was quieter again…
