Procrastination

Ah, well, there’s nothing like a bit of procrastination, is there? I suppose now I’ve spent quite a long time (too long) fiddling with the header image I should probably write something for today, so why not write about procrastination? There was a Daily Post prompt about procrastination recently, entitled ‘What is your favourite way to procrastinate?’ Well, one way in which I procrastinate is to waffle, at least when blogging. I waffle quite a lot in real life, too. Also, I like to look at other people’s blogs ‘for inspiration’, but really I’m just trying to put off the moment when I actually have to put fingers to keyboard and write something of my own. Fiddling with the theme and the header is, of course, another excellent way to feel like you’ve achieved something on your blog when really you haven’t.

To try and put off doing things other than blogging I make lists, I write notes, rearrange things, make piles. Oh yes, the piles. We have a few of those in our house, although not as many as we used to. Now it’s really just one pile of mail we don’t really know what to do with, plus the pile of scrapbooking things and the pile of family history things that I really must do something with before I next see my mum. I accumulate things –  similar to making piles, I suppose – wool, recipes, materials, bits of jewellery, interesting pictures, photographs, quotations, books, dresses, and don’t do very much with them. This is something I’m trying to rectify, either by getting rid of things or actually using/reading/wearing them. I’ve even been wearing dresses to work. I might blog about this another day.

On the other hand,  I accrued a rather large library fine at the public library because I put off taking books back and didn’t realise I couldn’t renew them again! I suppose that’s a good lesson in the dangers of procrastination!
