- My computer is ill. It keeps turning itself off without warning.
- My (not really my) sewing machine is ill. It keeps turning itself on without warning.
- My plants are are being eaten by woodlice (indoors).
- My level of anger/upset about these things is totally disproportionate to their actual importance.*
- Is disproportionate really a word? Firefox doesn’t seem to think so.
Your computer sounds really poorly. Does it need to go to the computer servicing shop to be doctored?
My sewing machine has come out in sympathy with yours. It keeps mangling the upper thread round the bobbin!!
Woodlice indoors? My other half would be having hysterics (or the male equivalent of) if he so much a saw ONE.
No, your level of frustration is NOT disproportionate (which Chrome’s spell checker accepts is a real word).
One of my computer-whiz colleagues had a look at my computer and thinks it just needs cleaning, so I have hoovered it! It has been OK today (since I cleaned it)…so far….If it doesn’t get better I will have to take it to a computer repair shop but I don’t actually think there is one in the vicinity!
Your computer may, of course, also need to be cleaned in terms of its software. You do have CCleaner loaded, don’t you? (The first C is for C**p but the company was forced to change the name.)
Hmm, no I don’t have CCleaner loaded. It turned itself off again today (twice so far). The slightly weird thing is that it only seems to turn itself off (so far) when I’m attempting to watch Homeland! I’m in the process of doing a full virus scan…
Update on the computer: It is at the computer repair place. Apparently it is a hardware problem
Not sure what exactly it is yet, as I missed their phone call…
The computer is now home from the repair shop. It was indeed overheating, and needed a service pack installing. It has been OK, so far…
