Glad you liked the list. I quite like ironing, if I'm in the right mood for it! Maybe I shouldn't admit *that*!

This is an excellent list! You iron? I don't think I have had my ironing board out in years. Maybe I shouldn't admit that.

I'm glad everything is being thoroughly checked out, and I hope the results are all good.

I read this book, King Dork, in which there is a line (I'm quoting from memory so it will no doubt be misquoted): "Am I being paranoid... or am I just paranoid enough?" Recently I've had a few situations where I thought I was being overly-worried (in particular about Kiko) but it turned out that my suspicions were correct, so I would say trust your instincts.

Oh ho, mind you, I am the champion worrier. I worry when I'm not worried because I think I ought to be worried so I must be missing something....!

Well, notebooks are only the expression of feelings, aren't they? Maybe not the shopping list but that's an expression of thought!
Your keeping of the outpouring of, anger? guilt? fear? and the subsequent destruction of same has prompted me to find the correspondence from an ex-boss in which he makes me feel about an inch high! I'm going to get rid of it -- after years!
Background is that when I first took over the running of ADSET I'd had 22years in the civil service, chairman of the advisory board thought he, also an ex-civil servant and several grades senior to me in the same unit, had the right to tell me what to do. I'd had the conditioning to say "of course, sir" and then found that, as the boss, I didn't want to do what he'd said! It led to a lot of tensions and a very unhappy time for me. Why have I kept the WHOLE file all these years?
I'd like to think that it's the librarian in me that doesn't throw anything away but I guess it's actually that I can read these letters and wallow in the misery! How stupid!

Couldn't agree more about the Nurse Specialists -- the vascular one I see is a real sweetie -- lots of pay but please, no chocolates. She may, indeed does, deserve them but she's a bit of a dumpling already so always gives them away!
I could write you a lecture on worrying but that would be the pot calling the kettle black so I won't!

i am sorry...did you say a pins and needles sensation? i saw this post and had to comment. do you have any other symptoms? does this feeling come and go? it could be anything but please don't let the doc dismiss it. are you ever dizzy or off balance? do you ever have difficulty with your gait or vision?

write all your symptoms down so you can present them to your doctor.

it is all probably absolutely nothing to worry about but it would be good to get things checked out.

Hi Asherah,

Thank you for taking the time to write your comment. It's interesting to read other people's views on this and I can tell you that people travelling on buses and trains in the UK behave pretty much the same as you describe, unless they know each other.

I have occasionally had good conversations with strangers on trains, but I think people are afraid of talking to strangers on public transport because there is this idea that talking to strangers is something that 'weird' people do and sometimes people just feel intimidated and uncomfortable if someone they don't know strikes up a conversation. It depends on the context and what is said, I think. Some people who've tried to talk to me on trains have made me uncomfortable (usually men, sorry men) but other people are fine. Middle- aged and elderly ladies and families with children are the best conversationalists, I find.

I travel on the train to work every day and most people don't talk to each other, unless, as I said, they know each other already. The young people do make a lot of noise, but I suppose that's because they all know each other and, as you suggest, aren't as aware of social 'norms' or just don't care about them. Sometimes they can be over-loud and rude, which isn't very nice to be stuck with on the train, but sometimes they have really interesting, insightful and amusing conversations which are good to hear (not that I should be listening in!).
